Pre-K Program

Our Pre-K program is structured according to the South Carolina Early Learning Standards that are used by public schools across the Palmetto State. We work with children in our Pre-K program to develop a variety of skills, including math, reading, communication, physical education, social-emotional development, and more. At the end of the school year, our Pre-K students will be ready to take the next step in their personal journeys and excel the following year in kindergarten.

A Safe, Comfortable Learning Environment

Most children are able to learn best when their learning environment closely resembles their home environment. A drastic change of scenery isn’t usually conducive to children being comfortable or stress-free, and our goal is to do all that we can to help the children in our care thrive in every way possible. Thus, we take it upon ourselves to make their learning environment feel like home, so the little ones can feel comfortable and confident. From teddy bears to colorful pictures and everything in between, each object and item in our classroom is carefully calculated to ensure that the children feel at ease so that they can focus on learning and growing in a loving, safe, and non-restrictive environment.

Preparing Young Children For Kindergarten

Our primary goal is to ensure that every child in our program is prepared to thrive in kindergarten the ensuing year. We work closely with each individual child to help them develop the skills they’ll need to do so.

Our Pre-K program will design learning activities that focus on:

Learn to interact with others in a positive manner, which includes sharing, taking turns, listening to instructions, and respecting what other people say and think.

Improve their motor skills, such as walking, running, drawing, and even tying their shoes, all in the comfort and safety of a secure environment.

Develop their cognitive skills, which includes introducing reasoning activities and information sharing that catch their attention and spark their curiosity.

Work on their verbal skills by being engaged in age-appropriate conversations about anything that they find interesting.

Learn about the world around them and the way things work in an age-appropriate fashion.

Children With Special Needs

Different individuals are born with different levels of abilities, and each of us deserves the same chance to develop to the best of our abilities- whatever those abilities may be. Honey Bears works with children with a variety of different types of special needs, including Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Angelman’s syndrome, and more. We offer a Least Restrictive Environment, and are able to help families with assessments if necessary- we even have a special assessment room. Our goal is to learn as much about your child’s capabilities and limitations as possible before crafting a customized plan to foster the child’s growth as much as possible.
