About

Our Story

Honey Bears was launched in March 2009 by Sherri Baylor. After winning her battle against breast cancer, Sherri knew that she wanted to turn her attention to developing the skills of young children while giving them a happy childhood along the way. As a devoted mother and grandmother, caring for young children has always come naturally to her. When she noticed a local childcare facility looking for new leadership, she seized the opportunity; she took over the facility and never looked back.

Since its inception, Honey Bears has specialized in helping young children develop reading, social, and cognitive skills in a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environment. To our team of dedicated childcare professionals, our work is not defined as a business, but as a passion. We do more than just take our work seriously. We take it personally, and we take it upon ourselves to form personal connections with each child that we care for; connections that last a lifetime.

Above all else, quality is the focus of everything Honey Bears does. We provide quality nourishment that helps to guide children on the path to a healthy lifestyle. We form quality relationships with the children in our care so that they can thrive in a nurturing environment with people around them they can trust. We provide quality experiences that the children can forever look back upon and pinpoint as the beginning of their development, and we provide each child with a quality childhood that they can remember with fondness for the rest of their lives.

Equipping Young Children With The Skills They Need For Life

For many of us, most of the skills we use today are first taught to us before the age of six. We are able to read, walk, speak, and care for others because of the effort that other people invested in our abilities to do these things when we were infants and toddlers. As childcare professionals, our calling is to pour this same investment into the next generation of young children.

Among the areas of development we focus on:

Approaches to Play & Learning

Social & Emotional

Health & Physical

What’s In A Name?

Honey Bears was named after the grandson of founder Sherri Baylor. Her daughter and grandson were inseparable from the time her grandson was born, and Sherri quickly began calling him her “Honey Bear.” The name stuck.

Today, this moniker that Sherri once used to refer to her grandson lives on in our childcare facility. Every child is someone’s child, and we see it as our responsibility to provide genuine loving care to each child in a nurturing environment- the way Sherri and her daughter once did with her grandson.
